A family office is a type of wealth management organisation that provides financial and investment services to a single family. The purpose of a family office is to manage the financial affairs of the family and to preserve and grow the family’s wealth. There are two main types of family office: single family offices, set up to serve the needs of a single family, and multi-family offices, which provide services to multiple families. The structure can vary, but family offices are often organised as a trust, a partnership or a private company, and are typically staffed by financial professionals — investment advisers, accountants and lawyers — who work exclusively for the benefit of the family.
