Private Family Office

Acting as your family's finance director — coordinating advisers and protecting wealth across generations.

A family office is a type of wealth management organisation that provides financial and investment services to a single family. The purpose of a family office is to manage the financial affairs of the family and to preserve and grow the family’s wealth. Family offices often manage a wide range of assets, including investment portfolios, real estate holdings and private businesses, and may also provide tax planning, estate planning and philanthropic support.

There are two main types of family office: single family offices, set up to serve the needs of a single family, and multi-family offices, which provide services to multiple families. The structure can vary, but family offices are often organised as a trust, a partnership or a private company, and are typically staffed by financial professionals — investment advisers, accountants and lawyers — who work exclusively for the benefit of the family.

A key benefit of a family office is that it allows the family to centralise and consolidate its financial affairs, making it easier to manage and grow the family’s wealth, while offering a greater level of control and privacy over financial matters than is typically available through a traditional financial institution.

Our approach

Westwinds has been looking after the financial affairs of private clients, their families and business interests for many years. Whether you are domiciled in the UK, Isle of Man or abroad, we run and advise a number of family offices.

Our services are tailor-made to reflect your family’s objectives, dynamic needs and aspirations. Working with your existing advisers, we can act as the focal point for the family’s financial requirements — co-ordinating all of the family’s financial needs and providing the support and guidance needed to help protect, grow and, when appropriate, transfer its assets.
